We are currently seeking a highly qualified individual to assume the position of Manager of Human Resources for the organization. All candidates must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Accountability

The Manager of Human Resources is part of the Administration team, reporting directly to the Executive Director. This position works closely with the Management team to ensure collaboration and efficient communication between employees and the Administration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Human Resources or related field with three (3) to five (5) years of experience in management and supervision OR
  • Knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management
  • Familiarity with business and financial principles
  • Excellent communication and personnel skills
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations
  • Experience or knowledge of working in a unionized environment
  • Adaptability to changes in technology, regulations, and organizational needs
  • Knowledge of Indigenous perspectives and realities
  • Bilingual in English and French (oral and written)
  • Knowledge of an Indigenous language is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Act as a mediator to defuse conflicts or tensions when they arise, via physical and digital communication channels.
  • Communicate with the Management Team on the needs of the team to ensure the smooth running of the organization.
  • Communicate with the team about the needs of the Management Team to ensure the smooth running of the organization.
  • Recommend mental health and occupational health tools and resources via group workshops and individualized resources for each employee.
  • Oversee the planning of informal team outings to ensure they are consistent with team comfort levels and take place in appropriate environments.
  • In collaboration with the administrative team and the Management Team, develop and implement human resources procedures and policies.
  • Assist other teams as needed in the development of their policies to ensure the underlying aspect of human resources.
  • Participate in the hiring, training, probation and termination process for all employees in collaboration with the Management Team.
  • Manage the annual evaluation process: questionnaires, tools, deadlines, meetings with supervisors and Elders as needed.
  • Create an individualized well-being plan for each employee to be implemented following the evaluation process: recommendations and summary support for the employee in achieving their objectives.
  • Update all team contracts: review of tasks, review of the organization chart, change of salary and schedule in collaboration with the respective supervisors.
  • Ensure effective archiving and documentation of contract evaluation and updating processes.
  • Participate in the end of probation meeting with employees and managers to inform them of their performance.
  • Take disciplinary measures with employees and managers when they present a risk to maintaining a collaborative and safe work environment.
  • Refer employees and managers to available resources in terms of professional and personal development.
  • Meet with all employees at least once a quarter to assess their level of well-being at work.
  • Provide short-term support to employees who are experiencing personal difficulties that affect their professional
  • performance: active listening, emotional support, search for resources, regular check-ins.
  • Update important employee files: complaints, performance problems, conflicts, days of absence.Make recommendations to the Management Team regarding the development of managerial skills and tools.
  • Run an internal communication channel (e.g. Google Chat) on health and encourage discussion and sharing of knowledge among all on various topics of professional and personal well-being.
  • Ensure the team is kept up to date with HR and internal processes.
  • Ensure the team understands in what type of situation to collaborate with the human resources manager to improve their professional experience within the organization.

Working hours

Full-time (37.5 hours per week), Monday through Friday, days and evenings (may vary). Attendance at events, meetings, training, and workshops are mandatory. Salary starting at $55,000 - $ 70,000 annually based on experience and education.
